The first weekend of August we traveled to St. Joseph, Michigan for a fun filled weekend with our Butler Crew. Our friends, John and Sara Horvath, live there and let us invade their home for the weekend. This was our annual ornament party crew, minus the Jones family. So what do 6 families with 14 kids (ages 6 yrs- 6 mos + one due to arrive in Sept.) do for a whole weekend together? Well it was action packed! We met up at John and Sara's for dinner on Friday night. It was great to see everyone and for all the kids to play together. Of course with the majority being boys ( 11 boys & 3 girls), there was much rough play. But don't worry the girls can hold their own! We spent the night at the Silver Beach Hotel both Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, we packed up and headed to Silver Beach. So much fun to play in the water and the sand! In the morning it was not too busy, but by the afternoon the beach was packed and quite a scorcher. The excitement of the day was starting to wear off, for both kids and parents! We packed it up and headed back to the hotel for naps. Dinner that night was back at the Horvath's. A big storm rolled in so we were contained inside for awhile, but after the rain was gone the kids were quick to get outside. I know the kids enjoyed playing, but I'm pretty sure the adults loved getting to chat just as much. It's so great that the kids are getting old enough to play on their own...at least most of them :)
Sunday morning we ate breakfast at a little bakery by the hotel and then headed back down towards the beach to play in a very large fountain. It was like a spray park, but not like anything here in Indy! The kids loved it and the temps were much cooler luckily. We had a picnic with pizzas and then let the kids run off some energy before heading home.
I know I speak for everyone when I say it was a fabulous weekend! I love that we could all spend time together and now we just have to wait till November to see each other again!
